 Welcome to Hooked on Spain. At Activity Spain we realise that many families would love to take an active holiday but maybe find it difficult to locate a suitable holiday. To help with this predicament we have developed the Active Kids Brand. Of course only you as parents know your children’s abilities in terms of physical exercise and you must make the decision which tours are suitable.
Below you will find an explanation how we classify tours suitable for active kids.
Cycling
Our Active kids cycle tours will have many sections on purpose built cycle ways , forest tracks and trails or very quiet country lanes. They may still have some sections on busier roads such as approaching larger towns. The distances are usually shorter , on average around the 20-25 miles per day and will not be too hilly although you might expect some hills. The tours are some times located more than 1 night in each location meaning it is easier to take time out from cycling if your children feel tied. Lastly bikes for children , 10 years upwards and child seats for children up to around 18 kg are available. Our Active kids tours in Spain are generally suitable for children up to around 4 years ( on a child seat ) and 8 years upwards.
Ideal trips are Majorca and a new tour we are developing for 2009 in the Emporda region of Catalonia.
Hooked on Cycling Holidays do have many more suitable tours for active kids in other European Countries and Canada from ages 1 year to adult.
Walking
Our Active Kids walking tours will have daily walks on average around the 4 hours with a change of altitude usually not more than 400m. They are likely to have more than 1 night in the same location allowing tied children to rest if needed. Paths would be safe with no dangerous trails. These walking tours would generally be suitable for children over 10 years of age.
It should be noted that our Picos tour has one tough day to a mountain hut with a long climb . if your children do not wish to experience this then please advise us a time of booking and we shall add in an extra night and walks to avoid the climb.
